I was born in Michigan in 1958 and enjoyed living in the 51st state of the Union.
Yes, I am a yooper. In
1969, my family moved to the other side of Lake Superior and I began learning about the Northwoods of Minnesota. During this time, I enjoyed a long and deep relationship with the diverse landscapes of the Northwoods and Minnesota. I also continued to improve on my "Fargo Style" accent, or so folks tell me.
I received my first 35mm camera, from my father in late 1960, an Argus C3 “the Brick” as it was called!
My wife, Biljana Obradovic', was born in Yugoslavia during the heyday, under Josip Broz “Tito”. She has seen the best and worse of times. She brings a unique view to our work. Between the two of us, we have explored over 30 countries and plan to publish a book called, “Around the World in 80 or so Pictures.”
Biljana's first experience with me on a photo taking excursion was our trip to the Grand Canyon. The first day was a 14 mile hike along the south rim, she never complained once.
Photography for us is not our full time job. We plan our vacations around what country or place we want to see next. Then we look at what might make for good photos and off we go. Biljana, our son Sacsha, and I with about 50 pounds of camera gear on my back set out to explore new places every time we have a free moment.
Photography, for us, is not about amassing a large portfolio. It is about a collection memories we hold of this beautiful world we live in. These pictures are not just pictures but are a part of our experience and travels.
Dave, Biljana
